Welcome to the Western Cape
The Western Cape is home to the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, affectionately known as the "Mother City" and internationally renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Currently the number one overseas destination for UK-based meetings and incentive planners, Cape Town and the Western Cape offers the vacation or conference traveller a wide variety of attractions, from the world renowned Garden Route with it's magnificent scenery, rugged coastline, dense indigenous forests and precipitous mountain passes, to the world famous wine making areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek. From the breathtaking views from Table Mountain to Robben Island and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, it's long stretches of white, sandy beaches, the Western Cape has it all.
The meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry (MICE) is booming, and Cape Town is grabbing its slice of the pie. Research suggests that Cape Town's attractiveness as an international MICE venue is growing, a trend which has been exacerbated and accelerated with the opening of the Cape Town International Conference Centre (CTICC). While many of the larger international conferences are taking advantage of the new CTICC, many others are making use of the other more than 200 conference venues available in the greater Cape Town area.
